The transfer market has been ongoing for a while, and Arsenal are yet to make their first signing of the summer.
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season and were unable to claim any titles. The Gunners also dealt with multiple injuries, especially in their attack line, throughout the campaign.
Several reports have suggested that the Gunners plan on making additions to further strengthen their squad and have been linked with some top names.
Now, it appears that Arsenal are closing in on making their first signing in this ongoing summer transfer window.
Who is Arsenal’s first expected signing of the summer?
Arsenal have reportedly been keen on bringing Martin Zubimendi to the Emirates from Real Sociedad. The Gunners’ reported interest in the Spaniard, who has a €60 million (£51.7m; $63.4m) release clause, has been there for a while now.
Earlier this month, reports suggested that Arsenal have reached an agreement with the La Liga club over the potential signing.

And now, according to The Athletic, Zubimendi is currently in London to meet Arsenal officials and wrap up the formalities of his transfer from Real Sociedad to the Premier League side.
Zubimendi started his senior career with his boyhood club Real Sociedad in 2019 and has made 236 appearances across competitions for the club while registering 10 goals and nine assists. It remains to be seen if and where the 26-year-old fits in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
