Arsenal in danger as Spurs set to launch late bid for transfer target

Arsenal’s summer transfer business might not be over yet, but their plans could be about to hit a bump in the road — and it’s coming from across north London.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped back into the race for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, putting Arsenal’s pursuit of the England international in serious doubt.

The Gunners had earmarked Eze as their final big signing of the window. But after spending close to £200 million already, they’ve been trying to offload players before making their move.

That delay may now cost them. Spurs, reportedly encouraged by James Maddison’s injury and Son Heung-min’s exit, have re-opened talks for Eze.

Fabrizio Romano claims the Palace attacker is “keen” on the move. But with his £68m release clause expired, any deal now depends on Palace’s willingness to negotiate.

And as Arsenal fans know, transfers aren’t won on paper — especially when Spurs are lurking in the box ready to poach.

Are Crystal Palace open to sell Eberechi Eze?

Palace chairman Steve Parish didn’t exactly slam the door shut. Speaking after Eze’s role in their Community Shield win, he said:

“Yeah of course, but listen, players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it? Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like. But we’ll see.”

That “we’ll see” will be music to Spurs’ ears and a warning siren for Arsenal. Palace are expected to ask for a hefty sum, with a significant payment up front, to even consider a sale.

Tottenham, fresh from Europa League glory, can offer Champions League football — a tempting carrot. But reports suggest Arsenal remains Eze’s preferred destination.

The problem? Every day without an official bid gives Spurs more room to maneuver.

If Arsenal don’t move quickly, they could find themselves on the wrong end of a classic derby-day scoreline — off the pitch this time.
