Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of making a major off-the-pitch signing. The North London club is in advanced talks with Andrea Berta, the former Atletico Madrid sporting director, as they prepare for a huge summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side held back from making short-term signings in January. But that is set to change in the coming months.
Arsenal are planning to go big, with Alexander Isak high on their wishlist. Two midfielders are also on their radar, along with Athletic Bilbao’s exciting winger, Nico Williams.
With so much work ahead, Arsenal are looking for an experienced hand to lead their recruitment.
While stand-in sporting director Jason Ayto is respected within the club, the Gunners seem eager to bring in someone with a proven track record.

Some of the best signings made by Andrea Berta
Berta has an impressive resume. He played a key role in bringing Rodri back to Atletico in 2018 after the midfielder was previously let go due to doubts about his strength.
In 2014, Berta skipped Atletico’s pre-season tour to finalize a deal for Antoine Griezmann, a move that proved to be a masterstroke.
His eye for talent doesn’t stop there. Jan Oblak, one of Europe’s best goalkeepers, was signed under his watch for less than £15 million. He also secured David Villa in 2013, a bargain deal that strengthened Atletico’s attack.
If Arsenal land Berta, they will be in safe hands. His experience in building competitive squads could be exactly what the Gunners need as they chase their first Premier League title since 2004 and their first-ever Champions League trophy.
With AC Milan also interested, Arsenal fans will hope that Berta’s next chapter unfolds in North London.
