Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a key summer transfer target as Nico Williams prepares to make a decision on his future at Athletic Club.
As per reports from The Guardian, the Gunners newly appointed sporting director, Andrea Berta has held positive discussions with the Spaniard’s representative over a possible move to North London.
The Gunners have been keeping tabs on Williams’ development in Bilbao over the last two years as his stock rises at the Estadio San Mames.
The 22-year-old continues to grow in prominence for club and country with a vital role played La Roja’s 2024 UEFA European Championship triumph.
Therefore, Mikel Arteta believes bringing in the La Liga star will substantially reinforce Arsenal’s attacking power as they aim to win a first Premier League crown since 2004 in 2025/26.
Williams has attracted interest from multiple clubs in 2025, with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona all also interested in the Spanish speedster. The winger has a £48m [$63m] million release clause and Berta’s influence in Spain could be pivotal in convincing the Williams’ entourage on a move to the Emirates.
