Arsenal and Manchester United target comments on transfer speculation

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been cited by countless reports over recent weeks as hoping to bolster their goalscoring options when the January transfer window opens.

Among those seemingly on the two clubs’ respective shopping lists is someone who is already proving this season to be a reliable Premier League attacker.

Wolves’ Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha netted his 10th of the season so far in his side’s 2-0 victory over United themselves — a win that makes it two for two since new manager Vitor Pereira recently took the reins.

Much has been made of both United and Arsenal’s interest in the 25-year-old, and following his key role in the victory over Ruben Amorim’s side, Cunha spoke on the interest in him.

“I feel so happy to be here,” he said on Amazon Prime Sport.

“That’s me as a leader of the team and then I give it to Channy [Hwang Hee-chan.] I think it’s first goal in the Premier League [this season] and he says every single day, ‘pass to me please’.

“So today I’m so happy because I got the chance to pass to him and he scored.”

Cunha’s form could be a critical factor in Wolves’ hopes of moving well clear of the relegation zone, having risen up to 17th with the Boxing Day success.

And if the club are able to keep the Brazilian happy through the end of the season and resist any potentially lucrative January bids, the early signs are that Cunha and company can keep them in the top flight.
