The Green Bay Packers are hoping to welcome back two of their wide receivers this week for a huge game against the Chicago Bears in Week 14.
Jayden Reed hasn’t appeared in a game since all the way back in Week 2, when he broke his collarbone, landing him on injured reserve.
However, Reed has been able to log seven limited practices in a row since being designated to return from injured reserve, including three this past week before drawing the questionable tag.
As for Matthew Golden, he has missed each of the past two games with a wrist injury and turned in three limited practices this past week before garnering the questionable tag.
Here’s what we know about both players’ chances of suiting up in the hugely important game against the Bears on Sunday.
Is Jayden Reed playing today?
Yes, Reed is expected to play in Week 14 after the Packers activated him off injured reserve on Saturday. Green Bay also released a wide receiver, which is more proof they expect Reed to play.
“The Green Bay Packers activated WR Jayden Reed off injured reserve, claimed DL Quinton Bohanna off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and released WR Malik Heath,” the team announced.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that Reed will likely suit up.
“Packers WR Jayden Reed, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a foot and shoulder injuries, is expected to play vs. the Bears, per source,” Schefter said.
Is Matthew Golden playing today?
We do not have a definitive answer on Golden’s status yet, so it looks like he’s a true game-time decision.
Golden turned in three limited practices in Week 11 before suiting up, but he also practiced on a limited basis all week in Weeks 12 and 13 before sitting out, so his practice participation this week doesn’t tell us much.
Thankfully for fantasy managers, it doesn’t matter much, anyway.
Jayden Reed start or sit advice
When Reed is healthy, he typically serves as quarterback Jordan Love’s No. 1 option, so that puts him on the flex radar on a weekly basis.
However, we wouldn’t start him this week. Reed has a lot of rust to shake off after missing three months of action due to his injury, and there’s a chance he’ll be on a limited snap count.
Barring the most desperate situations, Reed should be kept on the bench this week.
Verdict: Sit
Matthew Golden start or sit advice
Through nine games played, Golden is averaging just 31.8 receiving yards per game and he has yet to score a touchdown.
That’s simply not enough production to consider him a starting option in Week 14.
Verdict: Sit
