Anonymous NBA executive drops hot take regarding Anfernee Simons

The Boston Celtics made a surprising move to start their offseason when they traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers for Anfernee Simons. Now, some are saying that Simons could be in for a big season.

According to Heavy’s Steve Bulpett, an anonymous executive believes that Simons could wind up being the Celtics’ leading scorer.

“I bet you he’s their leading scorer,” the executive said, per Bulpett. “Even with Jaylen [Brown]. He’s going to have the ball a lot, and that dude can really score. That offense is going to have to change to accommodate him, and, in the last year of his contract, he’s going to let it fly.”

“As the kids say, he’s a bucket. He is. That dude is a bucket,” he added. “He can really fill it up. And remember, he was averaging around 20 in the West. What do you think he’s going to do in the Eastern Conference, which is a LOT less competitive? How’s he not going to score and score big?”

Simons has proven to be a capable scorer in the past. In his seven-season career, all with the Portland Trailblazers. He’s averaging 15.0 points per game, and is a career 38 percent three-point shooter. Last season, he averaged 19.3 points per game, and averaged more than 20 points per game in each of the last two seasons prior to that.

The Celtics may need Simons to fill up the bucket this upcoming season, with no Jayson Tatum, and a roster that is a shell of its former championship self, Simons could end up as the Celtics’ saving grace on offense.
