Alperen Sengun dominates EuroBasket in blow out win over Portugal

Houston Rockets center and Turkish star Alperen Sengun continues to dominate on the global stage putting forth another extraordinary performance today in EuroBasket. In 21 minutes on the floor, Sengun produced 20 points on 9-for-13 shooting in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. All the while, Sengun turned the ball over just once as Turkey routed Portugal by a score of 95-54.

This marked the second time in back to back days that Sengun has dazzled for Turkey in EuroBasket. Yesterday, Sengun posted a near triple-double while only missing one field-goal attempt. Ending with a stat line of 23 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, Turkey won a much closer matchup against the Czech Republic. Sengun added a steal and two blocks to go with his near triple-double, proving his versatility on both ends of the floor and making himself an early frontrunner for EuroBasket MVP.

Led by Sengun and other former NBA players Shane Larkin, Cedi Osman, and Furkan Korkmaz, Turkey finds themselves undefeated after three games of play. They sit atop Group A, tied with Serbia who are also undefeated. Turkey, however, leads the entire competition in point differential with a total of plus 75. This average victory of 25 points per game makes them the most potent team in the tournament thus far, with Germany being the only other team with a point differential above 55 through their first three matchups. Turkey will have another easy contest against Estonia next before facing off against Nikola Jokic and Serbia in their final match of the group stage.
