The MLB regular season is coming down to its final couple of weeks, and roster moves will look to get more serious down the stretch.
With this being said, the Chicago Cubs have a lot of questions that will need to be answered once October comes.
Playoff teams throughout the league are bound to leave players off the 26-man roster next month, and a fan favorite for the Cubs could be riding the line between being included and left off the team.

Insider: Justin Turner could be left off Cubs’ playoff roster
The Chicago Cubs added Justin Turner on a one-year deal just a couple of months before the 2025 season started. His veteran experience and leadership seemed to be what attracted Chicago to adding the 40-year-old.
Turner has made occasional starts at first and third base for the Cubs this season. But with Michael Busch healthy at first, Matt Shaw holding down third, and the addition of Carlos Santana after he was waived by the Cleveland Guardians, opportunities for Turner are becoming limited.
According to FanSided‘s Chris Landers, Turner could be the odd man out when selecting players for the Cubs’ playoff team.
“At this point, his value adds are really veteran leadership and an ability to hit lefties, the latter of which was mitigated by the addition of switch-hitting first baseman/DH Carlos Santana,” Landers wrote.
Not just this, but Turner’s stats have slumped in the season after he turned 40. Through 74 appearances in 2025, he has a .213 batting average, .284 on-base percentage, .316 slugging percentage, and .600 OPS while hitting three home runs and 16 RBI.
