Liverpool star Alisson has opened up on his targets for the 2025/26 season.
The Brazilian stopper endured some frustrating injury setbacks in the 2024/25 campaign with just 28 Premier League starts from 38 matches.
However, his reliability between the posts was crucial from the start of 2025, as Arne Slot closed in on the EPL title in his first season on Merseyside.
The 32-year-old remains undisputed as Slot’s No.1, but there will be some changes in the Anfield goalkeeper department this summer, with Caoimhin Kelleher moving on.
The Republic of Ireland international has confirmed his intention to leave to become first-choice elsewhere, after being blocked from exiting last summer, with multiple EPL sides interested in the Cork-born keeper.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is due to arrive at Anfield in July, as per a transfer agreement with Valencia from 2024, and the Georgia international will battle Alisson.
How Slot manages the situation could be a real test, with Mamardashvili the clear first-choice at Valencia, and Alisson’s consistency has been the key factor in Kelleher’s desired departure.

Alisson’s Liverpool contract, transfer latest
Alisson confirmed his decision to reject offers from the Saudi Pro League in 2024 as he remained focused on his role at Liverpool.
His current deal runs until 2027, with the club open to an extension if his performance levels are maintained, and a fresh offer from the Middle East is unlikely in 2025 – with his transfer valuation set at £20m [$28m].
Despite the incoming reshuffle, Alisson remains unmoved, and he is keen to grasp a ‘new challenge at the club’ in the months ahead.
“We worked so hard, for many years we arrived close, sometimes not that close. It’s so difficult to win a league title,” he told LFCTV, via This Is Anfield.
“We were able to win it this season and the opportunity to celebrate is fantastic.
“I’m really happy, I want to enjoy as much as we can these moments because we know how in football things change quickly. When the celebrations finish we will go for a new challenge, but now, we celebrate!”
Who will be Liverpool No.1 in 2025: Alisson vs. Mamardashvili
With Kelleher expected to go, the race to be No.1 is a straight shootout between Alisson and with the latter needing to prove himself in the EPL.
The towering goalkeeper has impressed in La Liga and his 2024/25 numbers were solid at the Estadio Mestalla.

From 34 starts, the 24-year-old made a total of 89 saves and kept eight clean sheets for a team who spent a chunk of the season battling relegation.
In comparison, Alisson kept nine league clean sheets and made 73 saves, from a smaller sample of games.
Mamardashvili will play a similar role to Kelleher, covering EFL and FA Cup games, and Slot may opt for him in selected UEFA Champions League clashes as part of a packed schedule.
That will require smart coaching from Slot, to avoid a similar situation to Kelleher’s final months, with Mamardashvili not used to a bench role.
