Aaron Rodgers timeline gets update from Steelers president

How long will the Pittsburgh Steelers wait for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision?

Well, they have waited this long, and the only quarterbacks on the roster are Skylar Thompson, Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard, so they don’t have much of a choice.

With each passing day, nobody has any idea how long or when or if Rodgers will sign or retire. After all, it’s Rodgers.

On April 1, Steelers President Art Rooney said the Steelers wouldn’t “wait forever” but would wait a “little while longer.” Well, nearly two months later, Rooney said a similar statement, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

“A little while longer. I’ll say the same thing,” he said.

Adam Schefter also stated that he thinks Rodgers will sign with the Steelers sometime soon, so there are a ton of rumblings going on.

Rodgers mentioned recently that there is “off-the-field” stuff that requires his attention, hence the long delay in deciding on his future.

“I’m in a serious relationship,” Rodgers said. “I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff.

“So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention.”

But Rooney’s comments aren’t too surprising. The Steelers didn’t take a QB until Day 3 of the NFL Draft, so perhaps they had some indication of Rodgers’ decision.

Then again, there aren’t many options at this moment. If Rodgers does sign, that’s great news for Pittsburgh. If not, they have to scramble to find another option, and that might be more realistic once some QB battles around the league get some clarity.
