Aaron Rodgers isn’t going away quietly.
If it is, indeed, his final season with the New York Jets, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback wants to finish by playing all 17 games. After injuring his knee during the Week 16 start against the Los Angeles Rams, Rodgers vowed to play when the Jets visit the Buffalo Bills on December 29.
“I’m going to play, and it feels pretty good,” said Rodgers, who described his issue as “a little MCL, but I’ve had a lot worse.”
The 41-year-old Rodgers had finally gotten healthy prior to picking up another injury. The four-time NFL MVP played through hamstring, knee and ankle issues earlier in the season.
“I lucked out, avoided major stretching of the MCL,” said Rodgers about the latest minor setback.
Rodgers has yet to miss a single snap due to injury this season. He’s looking to make his 16th consecutive start for the 4-11 Jets on Sunday in Buffalo.
“There is no way I’m not playing. Correct,” said Rodgers on Tuesday.
A start would bring the decorated field general one step closer to accomplishing a preseason goal. After recovering from a torn Achilles, Rodgers aimed to make it through a full 17-game campaign.
“That was one of the goals, for sure,” said Rodgers. “Definitely felt like mid-season that was going to be difficult, but right now looks like for sure 16 and hopefully get through this one and get to 17.”

The Jets have lacked such stability at quarterback in recent years. In 2023, the team started four different players at the QB spot. It was the second year in a row that New York was forced into doing so.
“It’s important, especially, we’ve been out of the playoffs for a few weeks now, so that’s one of the final goals, is to play all 17,” said Rodgers, who is on the cusp of a career passing milestone.
