The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially secured their starting quarterback for the 2025 campaign, as Aaron Rodgers has passed his physical and signed his one-year deal with the storied franchise, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“New Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has now officially passed his physical in Pittsburgh and signed his 1-year deal,” Rapoport wrote on X on Saturday.
We’ve known since Thursday that Rodgers’ deal with the Steelers would be for one year, but the details of the contract weren’t revealed. However, Rapoport finally gave us the value of the 41-year-old’s contract with Pittsburgh, and it’s a pretty team-friendly deal.
According to the NFL Network insider, Rodgers’ potential final NFL contract is worth $19.5 million over one season, with $10 million guaranteed and a base salary of $13.65 million.
“It’s a 1-year deal worth up to $19.5M with $10M guaranteed and $13.65M base,” Rapoport wrote on X on Saturday.
Though Rodgers has clearly lost a step and is no longer an elite signal-caller, the four-time league MVP can still provide adequate play as a starter, and his contract is not very expensive compared to the other quarterback contracts around the league. According to Over the Cap, Rodgers is the 21st highest-paid quarterback in football based on average annual salary.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers and current New York Jets signal-caller Justin Fields landed a deal worth $20 million per year with the Jets this offseason, so his contract is worth more than Rodgers’ agreement with Pittsburgh.
We’ll see if Rodgers can elevate the Steelers into a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but general manager Omar Khan did a nice job signing the future Hall of Famer to a reasonable deal.
