Aaron Rodgers and this AFC team ‘need’ each other, says ESPN analyst

The Aaron Rodgers rumor mill doesn’t slow down.

And while ESPN analyst Louis Riddick may not have sources telling him where Rodgers will go, Riddick certainly trusts his gut from a football sense.

Riddick feels that Russell Wilson is not a good enough solution as the Steelers’ quarterback in 2025. He thinks Pittsburgh has to go with Rodgers.

“To run it back with Russ, it’s just not good enough,” Riddick said on Tuesday’s episode of NFL Live. “They need to level up.”

He continued, “Aaron needs them just like they need him.”

Riddick believes in the coaching staff in Pittsburgh, including head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

His message to Rodgers: “Don’t worry about trying to put in your own offense. Just go play football. Work with Arthur. Work with Mike… You’ve got some weapons to throw to.”

Wilson was 6-5 in 11 regular season starts with Pittsburgh in 2024. His in-house competition, Justin Fields, just signed with the Jets to replace the released Rodgers.

That leaves two Super Bowl-winning QBs as the most likely options for the Steelers. And if Riddick’s take is to be believed, there’s only one match to be made.
