Aaron Boone gives important update on Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton’s future

Giancarlo Stanton has played just 37 games so far in the 2025 MLB season for the Yankees.

He’s started to play closer to the level he’s capable of, but the consistency isn’t fully there just yet.

He plays a valuable role in the lineup for New York, but the only issue is that he can be a liability for the Yankees for one specific reason.

Why is Stanton a liability?

Stanton has a past filled with injuries that have cut many of his seasons short.

In recent years, he has mainly been a designated hitter in the Yankees’ lineup, as they’ve kept him out of the field to cut down unnecessary mileage on his body.

With Aaron Judge returning this week, that creates a slight issue.

Judge is cleared to hit, but is not quite ready to be put back in the field yet, as he slowly ramps up his throwing arm that he injured.

Because of that, Judge has had to DH when returning to the lineup, forcing the Yankees into a difficult decision on what to do with Stanton.

Stanton has had to sit out of a couple games recently with this being the case, but manager Aaron Boone did give fans an important update on a change they’ll be making with Stanton.

Yankees reporter Max Goodman posted, “There’s a ‘good chance’ Giancarlo Stanton starts in the outfield [Saturday], Aaron Boone says.”

The Yankees have been struggling over the last couple of months, and Boone understands they’ll have to put Stanton back in the field so they can have both Judge and Stanton in the lineup.

The Yankees are in action on Friday night as they face the Astros at home for the start of a three-game series.
