A.J. Brown injury update reveals devastating news for Eagles’ offense in Week 8

A.J. Brown is coming off one of his best games of the season versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, but the star wide receiver will be absent when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

After missing practice every day this week, the Eagles ruled Brown out for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stated Friday morning that he is confident Brown could play without a week of practice. However, it looks like Philadelphia will opt to sit the veteran receiver out this week and let him recover.

Brown posted his most productive outing of the season against the Vikings last week, tallying 121 receiving yards on four receptions with two touchdowns. The 28-year-old has had an inconsistent campaign so far and will now miss his first game of the season.

According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Brown had tightness in his scar tissue in his hamstring all week.

“WR A.J. Brown’s hamstring remained tight from scar tissue as the week progressed, an NFL source said. That’s why he didn’t practice all three days and has been declared out for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants,” McLane wrote on X.

With Brown out of the lineup, the Eagles will heavily rely on DeVonta Smith in the passing game. Smith is on pace for a career, as the 26-year-old has hauled in 38 receptions for 504 yards and two touchdowns through seven games and was already taking targets from Brown.

Jahan Dotson and John Metchie III should also see increased snaps due to Brown’s absence. Dotson has tallied 111 receiving yards as Philadelphia’s third receiver, while Metchie has just four receptions for 18 yards.
