Already eliminated from Club World Cup knockout stage contention, LAFC look for one last hurrah as they take on Brazilian giants Flamengo in Orlando on Tuesday.
LAFC have been competitive, but have failed to score a single goal through their first two matches in narrow defeats to Chelsea and Esperance de Tunis.
It’s been a tough go for Steve Cherundolo’s side, who have had chances to put up a bigger fight but have failed to capitalize on those opportunities.
Flamengo, meanwhile, secured top spot by upsetting Chelsea last time out. They played 22 minutes a man up, able to not only hang on to their one-goal lead but even add to it in an eventual 3-1 victory.
Even if the Brazilians lose to LAFC and Chelsea beat ES Tunis, Flamengo will finish top by virtue of their win over the Premier League team giving them a superior head-to-head record.

LAFC vs. Flamengo predicted lineups, team news
Cherundolo has some decisions to make ahead of this game. Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has largely come off the bench as he navigates the twilight of his career at 38 years old, and after drawing a blank in start against Esperance last time out, Jeremy Ebobisse could return to the XI.
World Cup winner Hugo Lloris is the team’s starting goalkeeper for the second straight season, but there are some big changes in the squad after LAFC majorly revamped their roster this offseason. They shed longtime veterans Carlos Vela, Ilie Sanchez, Mateusz Bogusz, Cristian Olivera, and Jesus Murillo while ushering in new faces like Igor Jesus, Mark Delgado (from rivals LA Galaxy in a rare derby swap), Marlon, Yaw Yeboah, Frankie Amaya, and Ebobisse.
Winger Nathan Ordaz left the opener against Chelsea in the first half with a concussion and will have to pass protocol before returning to action, having missed the defeat to Esperance.
LAFC predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Lloris (GK) — Palencia, Segura, Long, Hollingshead — Delgado, Jesus, T. Tillman — D Martinez, Giroud, Bouanga.
Injured: Ordaz (concussion).
Suspended: None.
On a yellow card: D. Martinez, T. Tillman

Goalkeepers: Cabral Carter, Thomas Hasal, Hugo Lloris, David Ochoa.
Defenders: Lorenzo Dellavalle, Maxime Chanot, Ryan Hollingshead, Aaron Long, Marlon, Kenny Nielsen, Sergi Palencia, Ryan Raposo, Eddie Segura, Artem Smoliakov, Nkosi Tafari.

Forwards: Denis Bouanga, Javairo Dilrosun, Jeremy Ebobisse, Olivier Giroud, David Martinez, Nathan Ordaz, Adrian Wibowo.
Flamengo boss Luis Filipe has largely opted not to meddle with a winning formula, making few changes throughout the tournament from his regular XI in league play. He may, however, look to rotate some players at risk of a yellow card suspension, which includes midfielder Gerson and winger Gonzalo Plata.
Uruguay international Giorgian De Arrascaeta was replaced by Bruno Henrique on the hour mark against Chelsea, and the substitute was spectacular, so he could have earned a start.
Nicolas de la Cruz has been sidelined with a knee injury for the first two games, but he could be on his way back soon. Reported Manchester City target Wesley was an unused substitute against Esperance but replaced Guillermo Varela at right-back in the second match.
Flamengo predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Rossi (GK) — Wesley, Danilo, Pereira, Lucas — Gerson, Jorginho, Pulgar — Plata, Henrique, Araujo.
Injured: de la Cruz (knee).
Suspended: None.
On a yellow card: Henrique, Plata, Pulgar, Gerson.

LAFC vs. Flamengo score prediction
Flamengo have been fantastic so far on both ends of the pitch, and if LAFC couldn’t take their chances against the other two Group D opponents, they are unlikely to do so against their stiffest competition yet.
Even if Flamengo rotate the side given the lack of competitive stakes in this match, it will be tough sledding for LAFC. Denis Bouanga and Olivier Giroud will at least be seeking their first goals of the tournament if they can’t snag a point.
Prediction: LAFC 1-3 Flamengo
