The race for gold is on. The knockouts for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup are here, and it’s the USA and Costa Rica facing off in the quarterfinals.
The squads will play in Minneapolis for the final quarterfinal match of the weekend.
USA has the upper edge, finishing first in Group D compared to Costa Rica’s second-place finish in Group A. The Americans’ biggest success of the group stage included a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. Chris Richards scored the lone goal of the match, his first of the tournament, to confirm the USA’s advancement to the knockouts.
However, it’s Malik Tillman leading the USMNT with three goals. He scored twice in the 5-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago and once in a 2-1 win over Haiti.
For Costa Rica, its Gold Cup playoff appearance is thanks to defeats over Suriname and the Dominican Republic. It was unable to beat Mexico in its final group stage match, but it did secure a 0-0 draw.
