The Reds beat Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to the signature of the Germany international, and now the player has revealed the influence Liverpool boss Arne Slot had on his decision.
The 22-year-old, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, has opened up about the early conversations that proved crucial in shaping his decision.

Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp after a remarkable tenure at Anfield, is known for his progressive, possession-based style of football – which perfectly suits Wirtz.
The Dutchman led Liverpool to the Premier League title as part of a superb first season in charge and he wants to step up a gear in 2025/26.
Wirtz looks sold on Slot’s project at Liverpool and he will fit into a tweaked system next season alongside Mohamed Salah, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
