Kevin Durant has been traded to the Rockets. Phoenix decided to move on from the superstar in an effort to get younger and rebuild quickly. The trade package the Suns received proves that, as they acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five total second-round picks.
A Durant trade was all but assured to take place. His representation had met with Phoenix, and they presented the Suns front office with Durant’s preferred destination. Houston made the list, and it felt like we had just been waiting to see when the deal was going to happen, and not if.
Even though everyone knew he was being moved, the announcement seemed to surprise Durant. He was part of a panel at Fanatics Fest in New York City. The crowd erupted, and the host said that it seemed there was news about the star forward’s new team. She and the crowd informed him that he had been traded to Houston.
