The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be among the best teams in the league again in 2025.
The team made it to the divisional round of the playoffs in 2024 before suffering a heartbreaking loss against the Buffalo Bills. Notably, star tight end Mark Andrews dropped what would’ve been the game-tying two-point conversion in that contest, dooming the Ravens’ chances.
Andrews caught a lot of criticism after that game, and the veteran has been involved in trade rumors this offseason. The Ravens have Isaiah Likely backing up Andrews, and he has shown flashes of being capable of starting.
Lamar Jackson has defended Andrews this offseason, and it’s clear the duo has great chemistry. However, the team would save a decent chunk of change by trading Andrews, and may prefer to roll with Likely.
As a result, Anthony Palacios of LWOS believes the Ravens could send Andrews to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers could use another reliable veteran target for Bryce Young, making this a logical fit.
Following the end of their 2024 season, there was a lot of promise shown by quarterback Bryce Young and him throwing it to his targets in the likes of rookies Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker. However, the Panthers must provide Young with some experienced pass-catchers, and Andrews would be the perfect fit. After suffering an injury, Tommy Tremble might be rusty, and they can’t easily depend on Ja’Tavion Sanders, who is still developing, so Andrews could probably turn this offense into a potential wild-card team.
As Palacios mentioned, Young looked better as the 2024 season progressed, and getting a target like Andrews could help him take the next step.
The Panthers have Tommy Tremble and Ja’Tavion Sanders at the tight end spot currently. Neither Tremble nor Sanders put up TE1 numbers in 2024, so Andrews would be an improvement.
In 2024, Andrews caught 55 passes for 673 yards and 11 touchdowns. Overall, the veteran has earned three Pro Bowl selections and even earned First-team All-Pro honors in 2021.
In Carolina, Andrews could help Sanders and 2025 fifth-round pick Mitchell Evans develop, while also being one of Young’s top targets. A pass-catcher group of Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette, Tetairoa McMillan and Andrews would certainly be the most talented Young has played with.
Considering Andrews is 30 and entering the final year of his contract, it’s unlikely the Ravens would require a king’s ransom in return. The Panthers could probably get the veteran for a third or fourth-round selection.
