Yankees make shocking Paul Goldschmidt decision with Giancarlo Stanton injury return

The New York Yankees have some serious lineup question marks coming.

Mind you, they’re good question marks. Giancarlo Stanton is back, and if anything, the Yanks have too many good hitters.

And for the first night of this new experiment, Paul Goldschmidt is the victim of bad news.

It’s Goldy on the bench as the Yankees host the Angels at Yankee Stadium.

Stanton is the DH, the only spot he’ll play at this point in his career, especially coming off his elbow injuries.

The Yankees have Ben Rice in at first base.

Goldschmidt has been a renaissance man in his first season in the Bronx, looking a lot like his MVP days of yesteryear. He can’t sit often.

The Yankees have suggested Rice may do some catching, but even behind the plate, Austin Wells has hit well.

If Stanton gets off to a cold start, he may actually see the most time on the bench, but it’s hard to know that for sure.

All that’s certain is that Goldschmidt is taking a seat for Stanton’s return, and it’s a sign of at least potential controversy to come.
