PSG got their FIFA Club World Cup off to a flyer as they thrashed Atletico Madrid 4-0 in Group B at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.
Even in the 32°C heat, Luis Enrique’s side played like a team that didn’t want to stop winning.
Fabian Ruiz scored in the 19th minute after a pressing trap forced a mistake, Vitinha scored on the stroke of halftime after a quick counter, and Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-in scored late to wrap up the win.
Atletico, who beat PSG earlier this season in the Champions League, looked flat and lost.
They thought they scored when Julian Alvarez found the net but VAR caught Koke fouling Desire Doue in the build up. Atletico’s collapse was sealed when defender Clement Lenglet was sent off late.
What did Luis Enrique say after the match?
Luis Enrique, who has had a perfect record this season, winning all four trophies possible (Ligue 1 (won by 19 points), Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions, and the UEFA Champions League), sent warning after a dominant win.

“We had the objective of making history this season, but this [the Club World Cup] is a new chapter,” Enrique said. “It’s a nice challenge for the players and the team to want to keep winning.”
“The club is hungry, the fans are hungry, and the players and the team are hungry, and that’s a good feeling.”
“I don’t know [if we’re favorites]; it doesn’t bother me, but we have the same objective as in other competitions, which is to go as far as possible and try to win it.”
