In arguably the biggest game since the franchise moved to Oklahoma City, the Thunder stared down a 3-1 series deficit as they entered the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals trailing the Pacers by seven points.
Then, Oklahoma City’s MVP did MVP things.
When the Thunder needed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to step up, he did just that, putting the team on his back to help complete a fourth-quarter comeback and deliver a 111-104 win to tie the series at two games apiece.

The first half was the third consecutive 12-point half for Gilgeous-Alexander, who was relatively quiet compared to his standard 30-point exploits and failed to record a free throw attempt.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s workload was managed early on, as he was substituted out of the game earlier than normal and also relinquished some ball-handling duties. His third quarter wasn’t particularly notable, though he did score eight points to bring his total up to 20 points in the game.
The problem is that OKC entered the final frame trailing by seven points.
In the fourth quarter, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 15 points in the game’s final five minutes. Each time the Thunder needed him, Gilgeous-Alexander was there, and he helped his team get a win in a desperate situation.
For the night, Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 35 points on 50.0 percent shooting and a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s second-half highlights were all about the fourth quarter. First, he tied things up when clutch time began, and later, he scored the back-to-back buckets that put OKC up late.

A 3-pointer with under three minutes remaining in regulation cut the deficit to one point while a tough stepback gave the Thunder their first lead of the second half.
