Newcastle United are “pushing” hard to sign Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga and are “confident” of landing the winger in a deal worth around £55 million, as per TEAMtalk.
The Magpies, who were knocked back in the pursuit for the winger last summer, have made the 23-year-old Sweden international their top target again.
Multiple meetings between Elanga’s camp and Newcastle officials have taken place in the past week, with the player said to be “keen” on the move.
Elanga joined Forest from Manchester United in 2023 for £15 million, and since then, he’s emerged as one of the Premier League’s most electric attackers, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists in 38 appearances last season. His pace and versatility have caught the attention of several clubs.
The transfer window reopens on June 16. Newcastle believes Forest’s valuation of £65 million could drop, and they’re aiming to strike a compromise at £55 million.
However, Forest’s position is strong: Elanga’s contract runs until 2028, and they owe a sell-on fee to Manchester United and may push for £70 million.

“There is a lot of talk. I focus on what I can do and my focus today was on the match,” Elanga told Fotbollskanalen after Sweden’s win over Hungary on June 7.
“I guess there will always be scouts wherever I play… I focus on the next day and action,” he added via Expressen.
Newcastle eye more moves.
Elanga’s potential arrival would bolster an attacking unit featuring Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are also pushing for a center-back, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi on their radar. Guehi has one year left on his deal, and talks with his camp have already begun.
