Few teams have an opportunity to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the Milwaukee Bucks might find a trade partner in the draft.
Since Milwaukee’s season ended with a first-round exit for a third straight year, the conversation around Antetokounmpo’s future has been non-stop. However, Antetokounmpo has been adamant that he wants to stay in Milwaukee, and the team seems interested in keeping him around.
However, it might not be quite that simple for both sides. In a perfect world, the two sides could come together again and climb back up the mountain and secure another NBA title.
Of course, building a perfect team is hard, and the Bucks aren’t in a great position outside of having one of the best players in basketball. With that said, it wouldn’t be difficult to see why both sides could be willing to entertain moving on if the right situation presented itself.
If Antetokounmpo is somewhere other than Milwaukee next season, he might just be suiting up in San Antonio. In a recent article, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz predicted that the Spurs and Bucks might have some serious discussions about a trade featuring Antetokounmpo for the No. 2 pick.
That potential deal could allow Antetokounmpo to pair up with Victor Wembanyama and would let Milwaukee hit the reset button comfortably. Obviously, San Antonio would also need to ship out some promising prospects like Stephon Castle and some extra draft capital with more players to make the money work.

Yet, at the end of the day, it would almost certainly seem worth it to land Antetokounmpo. The Bucks could have a star in the making with who they take at No. 2, plus they would have some decent draft flexibility and some depth to still compete for a playoff spot in a relatively weak Eastern Conference.
