Insane Rockets trade proposal brings $220 million star to Houston for huge package

The Houston Rockets are poised to make a huge move. They have picks and young players that many teams would be hyped to trade for. If the Rockets want to take their team to the next level, getting a solidified superstar to pair with their young and up-and-coming roster may be the way to go. Most Rockets trade rumors with the Phoenix Suns include a Rockets-Kevin Durant trade. We made an NBA trade machine idea that brings a different Phoenix star to Houston.

Our Suns-Rockets trade looks like this:

Suns receive: Jalen Green, Reed Sheppard, Tari Eason, 2-first first-round picks, 2-first first-round swaps

Rockets receive: Devin Booker

Although a Rockets-Kevin Durant trade may be more realistic, a Devin Booker trade makes more sense. Booker is much younger and is on a similar timeline as the Rockets’ other stars. Durant may only have one or two good seasons left in him. Do the Rockets really want to go all-in on a high-risk trade target like that?

Instead, with this trade, they get Booker, the perfect star to lead them to the NBA Finals. Booker could take over the Rockets’ offense that desperately needs an overhaul.

The Rockets would be giving up some really valuable assets in this hypothetical Booker trade. Sheppard and Green could both become offensive stars, and Eason is a great role player.

However, what makes this trade really enticing is the picks. First of all, the two picks that Phoenix could get back in this trade are their own. This would give the Suns a ton of insurance for a future that looks uncertain. The pick swaps could also be negotiated to be a few years down the line, giving them a better chance at helping Phoenix’s future.

So, although this Suns-Rockets trade might be less likely than a Kevin Durant trade, it might be a much better route for the Rockets to take.
