Celtics trade proposal moves Derrick White to Nuggets to pair with Nikola Jokic

The Denver Nuggets need to get Nikola Jokic a better supporting cast during the offseason, and it might be possible with a Boston Celtics star.

With Derrick White potentially being available by the Celtics, there’s reason to believe the Nuggets could be one of the many teams interested in his services.

Arguably the best role player in the NBA, White would be a welcome addition to any contending team in the league.

When searching for potential trades around the NBA, Bleacher Report recently linked the two sides, proposing a trade idea that would see White join the Nuggets, pairing him with Jokic and Jamal Murray.

“Everybody loves Christian Braun, but the Denver Nuggets need an even more dynamic two-way threat next to Jamal Murray to maximize Nikola Jokić’s prime.

“Derrick White is among the best defensive guards in the league and is the kind of three-point shooter whom opponents get yanked off the floor for leaving open. His value as a spacer is far greater than Braun’s, and his superiority as a playmaker (4.8 assists per game last year) would give the Nuggets never-before-seen levels of offensive savvy and dynamism,” they wrote.

White is an excellent offensive player, as proven by his three-point shot and other scoring ways in recent years.

However, what he does defensively and as a playmaker could be something that intrigues the Nuggets even more.

For a team that’s decent defensively, but not great, adding somebody with White’s skill set defensively could be a help as they try to get through the loaded Western Conference.

The price would be hefty, but it’s the type of deal that would be worth moving a decent haul for.
