Arsenal suffer major roadblock in pursuit of Serie A star

Arsenal are determined to add reinforcements in attack in the summer transfer window and the Gunners have lined up several players on their wish list. Mikel Arteta wants to add more goals to his squad, an area where his team struggled last season.

The Gunners are chasing several attack-minded players and Juventus star Kenan Yildiz remains as one of the targets for the North London outfit.

Alongside Nico Williams and Morgan Rogers, Yildiz is on Arteta’s radar with the 20-year-old also able to play as a second striker in a reshaped front line.

However, Arsenal have suffered a major blow in their rumoured pursuit of the Turkiye international with Tuttosport suggesting Juventus have slapped an eye-watering asking fee in excess of €100m ($114m) on him.

Reports in Italy also suggest Juventus are keen to fend off interest from Arsenal, and are considering a contract extension for the 20-year-old, who still has four years left in his contract, with the Bianconeri open to rewarding him with an increased salary following an exceptional season.

Several other Premier League clubs have sent scouts many times in the last few months and Arteta may need to move quickly.

Who is Juventus star Kenan Yildiz?

Born in Bavaria, Yildiz came through the Bayern Munich’s youth setup from 2012, and he was with the German giants until 2022 before moving to Juventus. He initially featured for Juve’s youth team before rising through the ranks in 2023.

Yildiz netted nine goals and six assists last season, as the second-most productive U-20 player in Europe, in behind Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

While Arsenal are reportedly open to spending big on a new winger this summer, Juventus’ current valuation is an issue, as it puts him in a zone where the Gunners may be forced to look elsewhere.
