Newcastle United have revived their interest in the Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, just three days before the summer transfer window temporarily shuts, before it reopens on June 16.
According to Mail Online, the Magpies have turned their attention to the Swedish international after missing out on Bryan Mbeumo, who now looks bound for Manchester United.
Elanga, 23, had been linked with a move to St. James’ Park last summer; however, strict financial limitations under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules prevented Newcastle from matching Forest’s valuation at the time.
The Swedish star, who joined Forest from Manchester United for £15 million [$20m] in 2023, has been impressive in two seasons for “The Tricky Trees,” scoring 11 goals and adding 21 assists.
Elanga breaks silence after Sweden win amid transfer rumors
Elanga didn’t shy away from questions after Sweden’s 2–0 win on Friday night, a match where he stepped up in place of injured stars Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, both ruled out with minor knocks.
Elanga missed some chances but played a leading role in the attack. The goals came from Erik Benjamin Nygren and Yasin Ayari.

When asked about the Newcastle links, he told Fotbollskanalen:
“There is a lot of talk. I focus on what I can do, and my focus today was on the match. In football there are always rumors. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.”
To Expressen, he added:
“I guess there will always be scouts wherever I play. As long as I stay focused and do my best in the match. I just keep my focus on what I can control. That’s what I can do on and off the field. I focus on the next day and action. That’s what I can do.
