
Manchester City are reportedly closing in on bringing Tijjani Reijnders to the Etihad this summer.
The AC Milan midfielder has been one of the top names in Man City’s reported transfer target list for the ongoing transfer window. He turned heads with his performances for the Rossoneri in the 2024-25 campaign, netting 15 goals and providing five assists in 54 appearances across competitions.
Several reports have suggested that Man City have almost sealed the deal for Reijnders, with the official announcement awaiting.
Now, the Netherlands national team head coach Ronald Koeman has provided some insight into Reijnders’ potential move to Man City.
What did Ronald Koeman say about Man City-bound Tijjani Reijnders?
Koeman has been in charge of the Netherlands national team since 2023, which was the year that Reijnders made his senior debut for his nation.
Koeman recently revealed that he suggested Reijnders as a transfer prospect for Man City a few months ago. He told Dutch newspaper VI (comments via Manchester City News) that the Etihad will be a ‘great step’ for the 26-year-old.

“That’s a great step for him. They called me a few months ago. I’ve mentioned more, but it seems to be limited to one. Tijjani has developed very well,” he said.
Koeman also mentioned that Reijnders is set to undergo the medical assessment for Man City on Sunday, and will return to join the Dutch squad for their World Cup European qualifiers match against Malta on Tuesday.
Man City will be looking to complete the transfer soon as then, they can include Reijnders in their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, starting April 14.
