Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumor gets dose of cold water with recent report

The future of Milwaukee Bucks All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo remains one of the more interesting talking points throughout the NBA offseason.

With rumors swirling about a potential trade involving the two-time MVP, teams around the league are lining up in hopes of acquiring the superstar. However, it appears that Milwaukee isn’t ready to part ways with its franchise star just yet.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the momentum of trade talks between the Bucks and Antetokounmpo has “significantly stalled, and teams around the league don’t expect him to hit the open market.

“Of late, I’d say that that confidence has been replaced with skepticism. To a man, from talking to agents, team executives, whoever, there is not a lot of belief right now at this juncture. It’s only June 5th—anything could happen—and I’ve been told all along that if there is a decision, a formal decision made to shut or open the door on trade conversations for Giannis this summer, that it would likely happen closer to the end of June and when the offseason really, really begins,” Fischer wrote.

“But I’d say for now, for now, talking to people around the league, the assessment and the expectation is that they’re going to believe it when they see it—that someone who has valued being the franchise face, that the central lynchpin of the Bucks franchise, is going to want to play somewhere else.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo remains one of the best players in the league. Last season, he averaged 30.4 points,11.9 rebounds,6.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 60% from the field. He led the Bucks to the No.5 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of  48-34,  before being eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.

It remains to be seen if Antetokounmpo will be traded this offseason. It was reported that the Bucks are interested in maintaining the two-time MVP. The Bucks have reportedly received trade inquiries from every team in the league.

With that being said, whatever the Bucks decide to do, it would definitely create headlines.
