Chelsea announced the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town on Wednesday, and the forward has received a warm reception from everyone at the club since.
Delap’s move to Chelsea sees him reunite with the likes of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Maresca, all of whom he has worked with during his time at the Manchester City academy.
Soon after his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Delap was handed the number 9 shirt, and he will be hoping to score a lot of goals for the club in it.
However, there is no denying that the 22-year-old will be making a huge step up from his time at Ipswich Town.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer is one player who knows all about Delap’s abilities, having played with him during their time at Manchester City, and Palmer is understandably excited to link up with his compatriot again.
After the announcement of Delap’s signing, Palmer made the bold claim that his new Chelsea teammate is already one of the best centre-forwards in the Premier League.

What Palmer had to say about Delap joining Chelsea
When discussing Chelsea signing Delap, Palmer said via The Sun: “I’m excited to play with him. I was messaging him asking if he was coming, and that. I played with him at Under-18s, 21s. We went to the first team together.
“He’s a great striker, one of the best in the Premier League. You can see from last season. So I think he’ll help us a lot and hopefully score lots of goals.”
