Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is preparing a squad revamp at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Key defender Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a long-term contract extension in North London with the Brazilian forming a key part of Arteta’s project.
Defence is not expected to be a vital area of focus for the Gunners in the coming weeks as Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta aim to bring in at least one new forward.
Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres looks to be their No.1 choice but his current side will demand a huge transfer fee to part ways with the Sweden international.
Nico Williams and Benjamin Sesko are also on the Arteta/Berta radar, and could be brought in regardless of Gyokeres’ next move, with the club hierarchy prepared to back Arteta once again..
Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi has cooled rumours of a deal being agreed to join from the La Liga giants and that could open the door to other midfield options with reports from The Times claiming Morgan Rogers is now a target.

Morgan Rogers’ Aston Villa contract, transfer value, key stats
Rogers’ form at Aston Villa was rewarded by a contract extension in November 2024 with his updated deal running until June 2030 and a transfer value set at around £50m [$68m].
The 22-year-old netted 14 goals in all competitions in his first full season at Villa in 2024/25 and the England international is highly-rated by Unai Emery.
However, Villa’s dramatic failure to qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League could force some difficult decision on the club this summer, with Rogers one of their most valuable assets.
His ability to link midfield to attack at pace, with creativity and goal threat, could add something extra to Arsenal’s more defensive-minded engine room if Arteta makes a formal offer.
10 Premier League assists placed him fourth in that metric with only Mohamed Salah, Jacob Murphy and Antony Elanga laying on more EPL goals in the 2024/25 campaign.
The former Middlesbrough playmaker also finished in the EPL top five for through balls completed [22] and successful take-ons [66].
