Yankees slugger ‘Happy’ he re-signed with New York: “This is my home”

New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge is reportedly happy he re-signed with the Yankees back in 2022.

Judge spoke with USA Today’s Bob Nightengale about New York.

“This is where I always wanted to be, especially after getting drafted here,” Judge said. “This is my home. But if I was to look back, and would have signed with the Padres or signed with the Giants, it could be a little different.”

Judge was drafted by the Yankees in 2013 and has been in the organization ever since. He has won two Most Valuable Player awards and is a six-time All-Star.

“I might have been getting booed like Soto, so I’m happy with my decision,” said Judge.

Judge is referring to Juan Soto, who signed a massive 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets after playing one season with the Yankees.

Soto was booed mercilessly in the Bronx in May, as fans were livid that he opted out of running it back with the Yankees after coming up short in the 2024 World Series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Soto tipped his helmet to the crowd and pounded his chest before his first plate appearance on May 16.

Judge and the Yankees are currently 36-22 and hold a five-and-a-half game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays for first place in the American League East.
