Newcastle United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has received a timely boost with the Brentford star publicly declaring his ambition to play for ‘biggest clubs.’
Speaking last month, Mbeumo said as quoted by ChronicleLive, “I always wanted to play the biggest games for the biggest clubs when I was younger… You need to put a lot of demands on yourself. I’ve shown what I’m capable of, and I’m really demanding of myself because I know I have the ability.”
Newcastle, who are targeting strong showing Champions League next season, have identified Mbeumo as a priority for their attack, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider.
The Cameroon forward has emerged as their top choice for the right-wing role, with Mohammed Kudus considered a Plan B.
“As it stands, Bryan Mbeumo is their top target,” said O’Rourke. “Kudus is on their list and has admirers within the Newcastle hierarchy and is somebody they feel could come in and strengthen their attacking options.
“He obviously has that release clause of around £75million, but I don’t think many Premier League clubs will be willing to pay that.”

Mbeumo has scored 20 goals and provided nine assists across all competitions this season, and to put things into perspective, only Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak were involved in more goals in the Premier League this season.
Thomas Frank, Brentford’s head coach, has praised Mbeumo time and time again, and in his words, this is the player:
“who drives training with his attitude, work ethic, and determination to want to get better and win.”
Mbeumo’s consistency is clear. He’s improved every year, from four goals in his debut Premier League season to nine the next and now 20.
If Newcastle secure the deal, the 25-year-old could slot in alongside Isak and Gordon in one of the league’s most dynamic attacks.
