Bronny James is one of the most polarizing players in the NBA.
LeBron’s son was the No. 55 overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2024. He spent most of the 2024-25 NBA season on the outskirts of the L.A. rotation, and he scored a bunch of buckets in the G League.
It’s irrelevant at this point whether he got his initial opportunity for being the son of a legend. It’s up to Bronny to take the next step toward a bigger NBA future.
The good news: The latest report indicates that Bronny’s future is bright.
NBA insider Sean Deveney credits a Western Conference executive with saying that the Lakers are “dead-set” on getting Bronny into the rotation full time in 2025-26.
“The fact is, he was a lot better player in April than he was in October, and definitely in July,” Deveney writes. “If he can show that wasn’t a fluke, he is going to start getting 10, 15 minutes a night because the team is going to feel like they can trust him. I think he is going to do all that. He is going to be a regular for them next year.”

Bronny scored a career-high 12 points late in the NBA season. He also dropped 39 late in the G League season.
He was coming into his rookie season only a year removed from a heart issue that limited his freshman season at USC. Bronny certainly benefited from consistent basketball playing removed from the health worries.
If he can stay healthy moving forward, there’s no reason Bronny can’t play more. The Lakers certainly wouldn’t mind if he forces his way into more minutes.
