PSG’s story has been filled with near misses when it comes to the UEFA Champions League, but that could potentially change as they face Inter Milan in the 2025 UCL final in Munich on May 31.
History beckons; a win would not just seal a first-ever European crown, it may set off a domino of records unmatched by any French club..
This final isn’t just another shot at redemption for the Parisians… it is their best opportunity.
Inter Milan, who are chasing their fourth European title and a first since 2010, are familiar with this stage.
PSG, however, are hunting down something they’ve never had and that’s validation within Europe’s elite.
Five years after losing the 2020 final to Bayern Munich, they return stronger, after already clinching the Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France this season – and a UCL campaign which has gone from strength to strength with Luis Enrique outlasting Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

While Inter edged out favourites Barcelona 7-6 in a thrilling semifinal. Now, in Munich, both clubs meet for the first time in European competition.
Records PSG will set if they win Champions League
1. First-Ever Champions League Title
Founded in 1970, PSG have played in 17 Champions League campaigns but never won the trophy. Their closest attempt came in 2020, losing 1–0 to Bayern. A win vs. Inter would secure their first European crown in 55 years of existence.
2. First Continental Treble in Club History
After clinching their 13th Ligue 1 and 15th Coupe de France titles, PSG are one win away from completing their first treble. Only eight European clubs have done this – none from France. PSG would enter an elite club of serial winners.
3. First French Club to Achieve a Treble
No French club, not even Marseille or Lyon, has ever claimed the league, main domestic cup, and Champions League in one season.
4. Second French Club to Win the Champions League
Marseille’s 1–0 win over AC Milan in 1993 remains France’s only Champions League title. PSG’s victory would end a 32-year drought for Ligue 1, making France the sixth nation with multiple clubs crowned as European champions.
5. Most Decorated French Club
With 53 major trophies, PSG already lead France in silverware. A Champions League would push them to 54, creating a gulf between them and Marseille (31), Saint-Étienne (23), and Lyon (23), sealing their place as France’s undisputed dominant force.
6. Luis Enrique’s Place in Elite Managerial History
Only six managers have won Champions League titles with two clubs: Carlos Ancelotti (AC Milan, Real Madrid), Jose Mourinho (Porto and Inter Milan), Ernst Happel (Feyenoord, Hamburger SV), Ottmar Hitzfeld (Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich), Jupp Heynckes (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich) and Pep Guardiola (Man City and Barcelona)
If PSG win, Luis Enrique – already a winner with Barcelona in 2015 – will joins that rare group, and becomes the second Spaniard to do so.
7. Munich’s Legacy of First-Time Winners
Munich has hosted four finals: 1979 (Nottingham Forest), 1993 (Marseille), 1997 (Dortmund) and 2012 (Chelsea).
Each final saw a debut winner. PSG could become the fifth, continuing the venue’s tradition of crowning first-time champions in a city symbolic of footballing breakthroughs.
