Thomas Tuchel names England squad: How many Newcastle stars made the cut?

Thomas Tuchel has named his 26-man England squad for the upcoming June internationals and two players from Newcastle has also made the cut.

Magpies’ Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn have been included, while full-back Tino Livramento misses out.

The squad which was announced on May 23 is Tuchel’s second England squad announcement since taking charge earlier this year.

The Three Lions, who previously faced Albania and Latvia in March’s World Cup qualifiers, will now meet Andorra in another qualifier before hosting Senegal in a friendly.

The squad will link up in early June, traveling to Spain to begin training camp ahead of the Andorra clash, with the Senegal fixture to follow shortly after on home soil.

From Magpies- Anthony Gordon retains his place following a consistent season, where he registered six goals and five assists across 33 league appearances.

The 24-year-old forward has been a standout performer, averaging one goal involvement every 215 minutes and creating 100 shot-creating actions over the season.

Dan Burn is also named in the squad after making his senior England debut in the previous international window.

The 6’6″ defender has impressed statistically, according to Fbref, he ranks  in the top percentile for aerial duels won among defenders in Europe’s top five leagues over the past year.

Despite limited attacking contributions, his defensive metrics—including 5.25 clearances and 3.92 aerial wins per 90 minutes has been enough to earn Tuchel’s nod.

Jacob Murphy, another Newcastle name previously linked with a call-up, is also absent.
