Three Liverpool stars added to Saudi Pro League summer transfer wish list

Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad could look very different at the start of the 2025/26 season.

Slot led the Reds to a second Premier League title in five years to cap off his excellent first campaign on Merseyside.

The Dutch coach has been keen to insist he is not looking to tear up his title-winning roster in the months ahead with only minor tweaks required to fine tune his options.

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly closing on a move to Anfield with the Reds ready to activate his £30m [$40m] release clause at the BayArena.

Liverpool also looking an offer for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, as part of a defensive rebuild based on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit, but further signings will depend on sales.

Slot is ready to let Caoimhin Kelleher leave, with major EPL transfer interest in the Republic of Ireland international, alongside a potential exit for struggling striker Darwin Nunez.

Saudi Pro League chase Liverpool trio: Nunez, Diaz & Jota exit latest

Nunez is on the radar of former side Benfica with Liverpool hoping to bring in around £45m [$65m] for the Uruguayan on the back of just 40 goals scored across all competitions in three seasons at Anfield.

However, as per reports from Sky Sports Germany expert Florian Plettenberg, Nunez is now being tracked by clubs in the Saudi Pro League, following their failure to lure Mohamed Salah.

Salah was the subject of intense transfer interest from the Middle East at the start of 2025, as his Liverpool contract ticked down, but the Egypt international eventually opted to sign an extension until 2027.

Despite a reduction in overall transfer spending in the last 12 months, PIF-backed clubs in the Saudi Pro League still boast major budgets, and an offer for Nunez is within their remit.

The report adds teammates Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz could be included as part of a multi-player offer despite interest in the latter from Barcelona.

Diaz is unlikely to request a move to Saudi Arabia, but if he opts against extending his contract beyond 2027 this summer, Liverpool will alter their stance on selling the former Porto winger.

Jota’s contract also runs until 2027, but the club are less clear over their extension plans for the Portugal forward, after an injury-hit campaign.
