Manchester City’s 3-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth on May 20 marked Kevin De Bruyne’s final home match at the club.
Last month, De Bruyne announced he would leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season as City fans prepare to say goodbye to their midfield maestro.
De Bruyne’s farewell home match was an emotional affair, as a packed Etihad paid tribute to their beloved Belgian. The veteran star also received a special framed shirt signed by his teammates and club staff and alongside a lifetime City Season Card.
A special video tribute to De Bruyne was also played on the stadium’s big screen. Earlier that day, the 33-year-old attended a ceremony at the City Football Academy where a special mosaic celebrating his contributions to the club was unveiled.
As De Bruyne prepares to bring down the curtain on his decade-long journey at City, the club have announced their decision to commission a statue of him to celebrate his glorious career in Manchester.
What did Kevin De Bruyne say his Man City statue?
Speaking after the farewell ceremony, De Bruyne told Matchday Live presenter Natalie Pike the statue means he will ‘always be part of the club.’
“It means I will always be part of the club. Whenever I come back with family and friends, I will be able to see myself so I’ll always be here.”

The next step for De Bruyne is unconfirmed at this stage, as he assess his options to continue playing for at least another year, ahead of leading Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer.
The former VfL Wolsburg schemer has received reported offers from Serie A title chasers Napoli and several bids from MLS clubs.
