The Kevin Durant trade rumors are not going away anytime soon. The Phoenix Suns have pretty much proven that their Big 3 of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal is not going to work. All reports suggest that they will be pivoting this offseason, and the Suns trade rumors indicate that Durant is the star who will likely be on the move. The Houston Rockets rumors have also started because their early playoff elimination showed how badly their young team needs a veteran scorer.
That’s why Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed a Durant-Rockets trade that would send KD to the Rockets, young talent and picks to the Suns, and draft capital to the Washington Wizards.
In his proposed three-team Rockets trade, the Suns would receive Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, a 2026 first-round pick originally belonging to the Wizards (via Washington), and a 2027 first-round pick from the Rockets.
In return, the Rockets would acquire Durant, giving them a superstar to pair with their young core.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards would take on Jock Landale into the Jonas Valančiūnas traded player exception and receive the No. 29 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft along with a 2029 first-round pick.
Although the Rockets have previously said that they aren’t interested in an aging star like Durant, this trade could be the perfect fit for their team. Most importantly, they aren’t having to give up Amen Thompson or Alperen Şengün.

Instead, they are giving up a decent haul of draft capital (although not their whole stash) and some valuable role players.
The Suns can acquire young players with upside to help them now and recoup some draft assets for the future.
The Wizards gain a first-round pick just for helping out.
This Rockets trade idea needs to be considered. A Durant-Rockets trade could be exactly what their team needs to transition their exciting youth movement into true Western Conference contenders.
