Lakers star LeBron James sees signature move compared to Lamine Yamal

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal have something in common, it appears.

On Sunday, the @ESPNFC X page delighted fans with a humorous and clever comparison between James and the 17-year-old soccer prodigy Yamal.

The post featured a highlight video of LeBron executing his signature step-back three-point shot to the left, captioned, “Lamine Yamal cutting in on his left:”. The caption playfully suggested that both athletes’ moves are virtually unstoppable, drawing a parallel between two sports icons from different worlds.

The comparison was particularly awesome given the stark age difference: LeBron, now 40, is a seasoned veteran, while Yamal is just beginning his meteoric rise.

Lamine Yamal is making waves at Barcelona, where his performances belie his tender age. With 15 goals and 24 assists in 51 appearances this season, he’s a cornerstone of Barcelona’s attack, helping secure the Supercopa de España and Copa del Rey while pushing for a LaLiga title.

His breathtaking goal in a 3-3 Champions League semifinal draw against Inter Milan showcased his ability to glide past defenders and score with precision, earning praise as a generational talent. At 17, Yamal is already being compared to Lionel Messi.

The @ESPNFC post was a stroke of genius, not just for its humor but for bridging basketball and soccer fandoms. LeBron, once a prodigy himself—dubbed “The Chosen One” at 17—knows what it’s like to carry immense expectations. Drafted first overall in 2003, he transformed the NBA with his versatility and charisma.

Now, Yamal mirrors that youthful brilliance, captivating soccer fans worldwide.
