Dodgers $17 million signing considered failed deal after early struggles

The Los Angeles Dodgers spent big in the offseason, to nobody’s surprise. They put together a team capable of winning yet another World Series title by flexing their financial muscle.

One signing they made was outfielder Michael Conforto. He was given a one-year, $17 million contract.

However, that deal hasn’t worked out great for the Dodgers so far, as Conforto is struggling at the plate.

Nick Villano of FanSided listed this move as one the Dodgers might be regretting.

“The Dodgers gave Conforto $17 million for just 2025. He needs to contribute way more to keep in this lineup,” Villano wrote.

Conforto is hitting .176/.299/.290 with two home runs, six RBI and a .589 OPS thus far. He was an All-Star in 2017, but isn’t showing any signs of returning to that form.

Thus far, the signing of the 32-year-old outfielder has not panned out for the Dodgers. They are fortunate to have other options leading the way, but they’ll need more out of Conforto.

It’s always possible that before long, the Dodgers could pull the plug on the veteran outfielder and go in a different direction.

Last year, he hit 20 home runs with the San Francisco Giants and had a .759 OPS, but has not been able to translate that into more success in 2025.

It will be interesting to see how much longer they stick with Conforto. There are plenty of options available for Los Angeles.
