Lakers’ retired guard hints at NBA comeback despite advanced age

A 12-year NBA veteran who hasn’t played at all during the 2024-25 season is thinking about a comeback.

He’s already played for the Rockets, Clippers, Timberwolves, 76ers, Lakers, Bucks and Bulls. Why not more?

The player in question: 36-year old Patrick Beverley.

On his podcast, Beverley announced that he’ll attempt an NBA comeback.

Beverley last suited up for two different teams during the 2023-24 season: the 76ers and Bucks.

During that campaign, he averaged 20.0 minutes per night with 6.2 points averaged in that time.

He began his NBA career with five Rockets seasons, then five Clippers season. He got a year and a half in with the Lakers, then half a season with the Bulls before his split 2023-24.

Beverley, known more for his tenacious defense rather than his offense, would likely need to prove he’s still athletically up to the NBA’s standard.

The guard is a three-time All-Defense member, which is a big deal. It’s been a while since he actually won those awards, though.

But we’re here and there’s a chance that Beverley is the solid fit for someone. We’ll have to wait and see who it might be.
