
Alex Noren isn’t a household name on the PGA Tour, but golf fans will certainly get to know him more as he heads into Sunday at the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in second place.
Noren, 42, was born in Sweden in 1982 and turned professional in 2005, joining the European Tour first before eventually making his way to the PGA Tour.
He is still searching for his first win on the PGA Tour, and he’ll have to chase down his Sunday playing partner and world No.1 golfer Scottie Scheffler to get it.

Where is Alex Noren from?
Noren was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982. As a 14-year-old, he won the unofficial Swedish Youth Championship, the Föreningsbanken Cup, at his age level.
Noren turned professional in 2005 and joined the European Tour in 2007. He had a strong finish in his first-ever major at the Open Championship in 2008, heading into Sunday inside the top 10 before ultimately finishing tied for 19th. He joined the PGA Tour in 2017, qualifying through non-member FedEx Cup points.

Where did Alex Noren go to college?
Noren attended Oklahoma State University, and he had a solid career as a Cowboy. Noren’s stroke average improved in each of his four seasons in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He earned honorable mention All-America honors as a junior, he was named as a third-team selection as a senior. He was also an all-Big 12 pick in both of those seasons.
Has Alex Noren won a major?
Not yet. Noren has participated in 38 majors, but he missed the cut in 17 of those appearances. Vegas’ best major finish was tied for sixth at the 2017 Open Championship.
