Chelsea are set for a busy summer transfer window as a number of incomings and outgoings are certain to take place at the club.
One of the priorities for Chelsea is to sign a world-class centre forward to lead the line for the Blues, and their manager Enzo Maresca has all but confirmed the club’s plans to do so in the upcoming summer transfer window.
This season, Chelsea have relied on the 23-year-old Nicolas Jackson in front of goal, and the youngster has left a lot to be desired with his performances.
While Jackson managed 10 goals and 5 assists in the Premier League this season, his temperament on the pitch has not always been ideal, and his reckless sending off against Newcastle United last Sunday is a classic case in point.
Jackson’s sending off means that Chelsea are left without a recognized striker for the last two league games of the season against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.
In this scenario, its plain to see why Chelsea want to sign a striker in the upcoming transfer window and Maresca has confirmed their plans to do so.

What Maresca had to say about signing a striker for Chelsea this summer
Speaking to the media, Maresca was asked whether Jackson’s development has taken a hit due to lack of competition, the Italian said: “I’m not able to answer now because I don’t know the other part, if a number nine was here. For sure, with us, in my personal opinion, he has grown and improved a lot. Now, if another number nine was here is it better for him? I don’t know.”
When asked whether he wanted someone to provide competition going forward, he said: “100 per cent.”
Chelsea have been linked to a number of strikers including Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen and since Maresca has confirmed the club’s plan to sign a striker, its only a matter of whom Chelsea sign to fill the void up top.
