As of May 16, it isn’t likely that the Toronto Blue Jays will be in a position to do anything in the American League East. The Blue Jays are currently in third place in the loaded division, and with other teams not playing great baseball, it seems probable that others will start to pick it up, and Toronto will be left in the middle.
At 21-22 overall, however, it isn’t exactly like the Blue Jays have played their best baseball yet. Unfortunately, getting a feel for what the Blue Jays are as a team is impossible. They have an opportunity to be very good at times, while others have suggested that they’re an average ballclub.
With that being an issue, there’s a scenario where the Blue Jays could look to trade some of their top players at the deadline.
According to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, one of those players could be George Springer.
“Toronto could be forced to sell, like last year, if it sits too far behind at the deadline. Other franchises would love the Blue Jays to be sellers again this year, with Bo Bichette, Chris Bassitt, Kevin Gausman, and George Springer potentially representing four of the best players available. But if the Blue Jays are even close to contention, they’ll buy — at least in some capacity,” he wrote.

It’s tough to say that any team around Major League Baseball should be interested in trading for Springer.
He’s having a decent year, hitting .279 with five home runs and 24 walks in 129 at-bats. However, his inability to stay on the field at times in his career has been an issue.
He’s been healthy in recent years, playing at least 133 games over the past three seasons. Still, he’s been out with long-term injuries, and some have questioned whether he’s healthy when he’s on the field.
