Juan Soto reveals his true feelings about leaving Yankees for Mets

The New York Mets and New York Yankees kick off a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Friday. This has been circled on calendars for a long time as it marks Juan Soto’s first time coming back to the Bronx.

In the offseason, Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets after spending just one season with the Yankees, which ended in a World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

So, there will be plenty of emotions from Soto, the Yankees, the fans, and everybody else as he returns.

For Soto, it seems he is more than at peace with his decision and has no regrets, per Jon Heyman of The New York Post.

“No, no. I made a decision, and I’m happy that I made it,” Soto told the Post. “You look around. We have an unbelievable team. And it’s going to be a good team for a long time.”

Moreover, Soto knows the fans will be trying to get to him, per Heyman.

“It’s going to be 50,000 against one. They’re going to try to get on me, you know. It’s part of it. Whatever they do, they have the right to do it. I’m just going to go out there and do my stuff. I’m just going to try to focus on my game.”

The Yankees were in on Soto until the end, but the $765 million and 15 years was a massive payday for Soto. This season, he is hitting .255 with eight home runs and 20 RBI, so it hasn’t quite been the start he is hoping for, although the Mets are in first place in the National League East.

It should be quite the scene at Yankee Stadium, and we will see how the fans react to Soto’s return.
