Arsenal are looking at the summer transfer window as an opportunity to revamp their squad as they aim to put together a team that can challenge for the Premier League crown in 2025/26.
The Gunners are looking at several players to bolster multiple different positions. Therefore, they are one of the many clubs across Europe in the race for Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.
While Arsenal have had enjoyed a solid defensive record this season, there’s always room for improvement and securing someone of Huijsen’s calibre would be a boost for the Gunners, allowing Mikel Arteta to play different systems and rotate his defenders.
However, recent reports on The Mirror suggest the Spanish defender has snubbed Arsenal, Chelsea and other interested EPL clubs as he pursues a move to Real Madrid this summer.
The Spain international, who joined Bournemouth for around £12m [$16m] from Juventus last summer, may already be on his way out after just one season with the Cherries.
He has grown in stature under Andoni Iraola, who has realised his potential and used him to great effect as the 20-yeear-old has became one of the most sought-after young defenders in Europe.

The La Roja international has a £50m [$66.5m] release clause in his current contract as per reports from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are ready to trigger that, but Huijsen still prefers a move to Madrid.
The player is eager to don the white of Real Madrid and the club are keen to sign him, with the option to pay his release clause across three instalments, which is key for them as they can invest money in other places in the transfer window.
Los Blancos tried their best to sign Huijsen in 2021, but at that time, they lost the duel to Juventus.
Huijsen’s snub will not affect Arsenal drastically as they already have Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber and Jakub Kiwior in their ranks.
While some of these players can play across several positions, each of them can slot in at centre-back if needed.
Kiwior is the only possible departure this summer, as the Poland international is looking for a bigger role and doesn’t want to play second fiddle, Arteta is fine with a sale as he need funds to facilitate signings this summer.
